C TRUMPETS

C Trumpets are often used in classical ensembles, such as symphony orchestras but are often used for solo classical performances. In the United States, many players prefer to use large bore C trumpets as it allows the player to play with a large sound while sitting in the back of a concert hall.

Here are our top recommendations for C trumpets.

Bach C190SL229 C Trumpet

BACH C190SL229 STRADIVARIUS PROFESSIONAL C TRUMPET

The newest model in the Vincent Bach line of C trumpets is the C190SL229 that was designed with Michael Sachs, principal trumpet with the Cleveland Orchestra. In many ways, this is the perfect combination between well tested and newly developed designs.

This trumpet features a .462” large bore, with a standard weight yellow brass 229 bell flare. This bell has become very well known in the trumpet community for it’s nice bright and focused sound that works very well in a large ensemble. Bach states the newly designed 25M mouthpipe was designed to increase evenness, intonation and response while helping with slotting of notes. Other design features include a two-piece valve casing, credited with giving the player better acoustic feedback while creating a richer sound. These horns come with a deluxe wood shell case and a Vincent Bach “Symphonic Series” 1 1/2C mouthpiece. Available in both lacquer of silver plate.

B&S 3136 Challenger II C Trumpet

B&S 3136 CHALLENGER II SERIES C TRUMPET WITH REVERSE LEADPIPE

The B&S Challenger II Series instruments are great playing trumpets that provide many alternatives when shopping for a new instrument. The biggest benefit to the B&S Challenger II Series C Trumpet with Reverse Leadpipe is the open feeling created by the reversed leadpipe. In a “standard” leadpipe configuration the tuning slide is inserted into the leadpipe, creating a small point of restriction for the air. While some people find this works well for their needs, others prefer the more open feel of the reversed tuning slide. This is created by the tuning slide fitting over the end of the leadpipe, preventing the restriction point found in standard configurations. This allows the reverse leadpipe to be built slightly longer, dramatically improving intonation.

This particular model includes a finger ring on the third valve slide with a thumb trigger on the first valve slide. This features a .462” large bore with monel valves and a yellow brass bell. These trumpets come with a deluxe wood shell case as well as a mouthpiece. Available in both lacquer of silver plate.

XO 1624S Professional Series C Trumpet

XO 1624S PROFESSIONAL SERIES C TRUMPET

The XO 1624S Professional Series C Trumpet was designed to provide the player with multiple options to tweak their individual set up to meet their playing needs. Built with a .462” large bore, these trumpets are available with either a yellow or rose brass bell. The Yellow brass bell creates a brilliant and clear sound while the rose brass creates a warm and powerful sound.

Other options include a choice between standard or reverse tuning slide configurations. One of the most unique features of this trumpet is the accessory package included with every instrument. This includes two tuning slides (standard and rounded) as well as interchangeable weighted valve caps and finger buttons. With all of the options available, the performer can easily find their perfect combination. Case and mouthpiece are included.

Bach C180SL239 Stradivarius Professional C Trumpet

BACH C180SL239 STRADIVARIUS PROFESSIONAL C TRUMPET

The Bach C180SL239 Stradivarius Professional C Trumpet has been one of the standard C trumpet models offered for decades and can be found in major symphony orchestras around the world. Like the other models mentioned, this instrument features a .462” large bore. This particular model uses 1-piece brass valve casings with a 239 yellow brass bell. The 239 bell is darker in sound compared to the 229, Vincent Bach’s other most popular C trumpet bell. The sound created is warm and powerful and is considered to be the standard Bach C trumpet bell. Finger rings are found on the first and third slides and the valves are monel plated for high performance and durability.

This model features a 25C leadpipe that gives the player some resistance. For many players, this model works very well as the resistance helps in centering tone production. While this is not considered a “tight” feeling leadpipe, it does take less air and helps the performer with endurance. Comes with a deluxe wood shell case and Vincent Bach mouthpiece.
